Position Summary The Aquatics Aerobic Instructor is responsible for leading safe, engaging, and high-energy water-based fitness classes for participants of varying ages and ability levels. This position requires a motivating and enthusiastic instructor who can create a welcoming environment while delivering effective aquatic workouts that promote cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, and overall wellness.

Requirements

  • Experience as a group fitness instructor required
  • Nationally recognized group fitness certification (e.g., AFAA, ACE, YMCA, etc.)
  • Knowledge of aquatic exercise modifications for special populations
  • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (or ability to obtain prior to start date)
  • High energy level with the ability to motivate and inspire participants
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Comfortable working in a pool environment for extended periods
  • Ability to lead and demonstrate exercises in shallow water
  • Ability to lift and move aquatic equipment (up to 25 lbs.)
  • Ability to stand, move, and remain active for the duration of scheduled classes
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to emergencies

Nice To Haves

  • Aquatic fitness certification not required but highly encouraged

Responsibilities

  • Lead dynamic, high-energy aquatic aerobic classes with enthusiasm and professionalism every session
  • Design and implement safe, effective, and engaging water fitness routines appropriate for varying ages and skill levels
  • Demonstrate proper technique and provide clear verbal cueing and modifications as needed
  • Monitor participant safety at all times and enforce pool rules and safety guidelines
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating class environment
  • Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled classes
  • Maintain accurate attendance records as required
  • Communicate effectively with participants and management
  • Assist with equipment setup and breakdown before and after class
  • Stay current with aquatic fitness trends and best practices
