The Aquatic Pest Control Assistant Program Manager is a full supervisory level position responsible for assisting the Environmental Program Manager I and the Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisory in managing both floating and submerged aquatic vegetation. This position will oversee and manage five Technicians, four Specialists, and two seasonal Maintenance Aides, and will be responsible for formulating procedures, policies, and program alternatives related to aquatic invasive plant control field operations. The position is located at the Aquatic Invasive Species Branch in Stockton, CA, and requires a Qualified Applicator License (QAL) or Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC), or Pest Control Adviser License (PCA).

  • Assist the Environmental Program Manager I in managing aquatic vegetation.
  • Oversee and manage Technicians, Specialists, and seasonal Maintenance Aides.
  • Formulate procedures, policies, and program alternatives for aquatic invasive plant control.
  • Coordinate treatment planning, training, and performance management.
  • Direct and coordinate interagency agreements to restore aquatic habitats.
  • Knowledge of general botany, especially aquatic weeds.
  • Experience with aquatic pest control methods and materials.
  • Familiarity with boating operations and maintenance.
  • Understanding of California waterways and water safety principles.
  • Knowledge of general chemistry and biology.
  • Experience in personnel management and supervision.
  • Experience in environmental program management.
  • Familiarity with state and federal regulations regarding aquatic species.
  • Previous supervisory experience in a related field.
