About The Position

The Aquatic Deck Supervisor facilitates and organizes high quality, member-focused swim lesson programs. This role is essential in ensuring that swim lessons are conducted safely and effectively, while also addressing the needs and concerns of parents and participants.

Requirements

• Minimum age 18
• Possess current YMCA swim instructor certifications
• Possess American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
• Oxygen Administration certification must be current or completed within 30 days of hire
• Minimum of one-year teaching Y Swim Lessons experience

Responsibilities

• Organizes rosters, provides roll call, and takes attendance
• Secures class timeliness
• Addresses parents concerns in a positive and professional manner
• Oversees the Lifeguards and Swim Instructors to make sure all safety protocols are adhered to while programs are running
• Assists in the administration and distribution of progress reports to Instructors and then to swim participants
• Proofreads all progress reports prior to releasing them to swim participants
• Assists in Instructor coverage for swim lessons
• Acts as swim instructor and/or lifeguard as needed
• Provides aquatic safety through promoting sound teaching methods under Y Swim Lessons principles
• Maintains proper discipline and class control
• Communicates any parent issues or concerns directly to the Aquatic Director
• Attends and helps facilitate regularly scheduled staff meetings and/or in-service trainings
• Accountable for understanding the organization's charitable status and mission to assure access for all through active participation in fundraising and philanthropy efforts
