About The Position

The Aquatic Coordinator will serve as a leader within the Recreation Center, manage a team of lifeguards and swim instructors, provide great customer service to members and participants, and maintain cleanliness and order of the entire Aquatic Center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One or more (1+) year of professional experience
  • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education above and beyond what is required, may be substituted on an equivalent year-for-year basis.
  • Current lifeguard certification
  • Certified Pool Operator certification or able to obtain within six months of employment
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Conflict resolution skills, initiative and creative thinking
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet expected deadlines and schedules
  • Maintain a professional image and have good written, oral and presentation skills
  • Strong client service orientation and attention to detail
  • Ability to oversee and direct staff
  • Knowledge of database systems and web-based applications as it relates to the department

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations and programming of the Aquatic Center
  • Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling and supervising lifeguards, head lifeguards, and swim instructors
  • Manage in-service trainings, emergency action plan implementation and student development
  • Serve as first point of contact for troubleshooting mechanical and chemical systems relating to the pool pump room
  • Develop and coordinate aquatic programming including student events
  • Oversees the development and management of the Learn-To-Swim program
  • Assists the department with evaluating the emergency action plan and recommends changes as necessary
  • Oversees the development and management of the Learn-To-Swim program
  • Recommend improvements to policies and procedures as needed
  • Monitors the effective allocation of resources and adherence to standards for the Aquatic Center
  • Responsible for teaching classes, attending meetings, and maintaining the policies and procedures associated with both the Lifetime Physical Activity and Sumer Youth Activity Programs.
  • Lifeguard as needed, based on staff scheduling and pool hours
