About The Position

The Aquatic Biologist position at SpecPro Professional Services, LLC. involves providing technical support in watershed management and natural resource compliance. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries, Biology, or a closely related field.
• Knowledge of Clean Water Act, Department of Defense environmental programs, Army policy and guidance, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
• Familiarity with Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and ESRI software.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in fisheries management.
• Experience collecting and identifying fishes and aquatic macroinvertebrates common to the Southern U.S.
• Experience with backpack electrofisher, seine nets, and other aquatic sampling gears.

Responsibilities

• Inspect streams to identify degraded streambanks, damaged riparian buffers, and other sources of erosion.
• Create maps and GIS databases.
• Conduct surface water monitoring (chemical, physical and biological).
• Conduct biological assessments in accordance with state and federal guidelines (macros, fish).
• Conduct wetlands determinations and delineations supporting NEPA and Clean Water Act 404 permitting requirements as needed.
• Maintain water quality databases.
• Control invasive plants.
• Update and make recommendations to the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
