Requirements

• Less than high school education or equivalent experience/training
• For Lifeguards: Current Lifeguard Certification and CPR Certification required
• A positive attitude and commitment to swimmer safety

Responsibilities

• Cautions swimmers regarding unsafe areas.
• Rescues swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aid.
• Maintains order in swimming areas.
• Inspects facilities for cleanliness.
• Cleans and adds water to swimming pool, as necessary.
• Tests free chlorine (CL) and potential for hydrogen (PH) daily.
• Conducts or officiates swimming meets, as necessary.
• Gives swimming instructions, when requested.
• Oversees pool parties and/or group swim events.
