About The Position

The Aquaculture Technician at Auburn University will be an integral part of the operations and maintenance team at the E.W. Shell Fisheries Research Center. This role supports various projects related to fish production, aquaculture research, and fisheries management, involving tasks such as general fish husbandry, equipment maintenance, and facility upkeep.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; no experience required for Level I.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 1 year of relevant experience for Level II.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of relevant experience for Level III.
  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of relevant experience for Level IV.
  • A valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience with aquaculture, fisheries management, or field work in the biological sciences.
  • Some college, vocational, Associates degree, or Bachelor's degree in fisheries/aquaculture or biological sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general fish husbandry tasks including feeding, tank cleaning, and behavioral observations.
  • Maintain grounds and facilities using equipment such as tractors, mowers, and excavators.
  • Repair, maintain, and operate various types of equipment.
  • Assist with construction, repairs, and maintenance of facilities including ponds, plumbing, RAS systems, and buildings.
  • Collect, record, and report data for research projects.
