Summary/Objective The Aquaculture Technician II will demonstrate a passion for all aspects of fish husbandry, have a good work ethic, attention to detail and will perform all farm duties and chores. Works and at times trains others on a variety of aquaculture husbandry duties and daily farm chores including feeding, mortality removal, screen scrubbing and driving fish truck to and from processing plant. Daily duties working as a team to complete all tasks, including but not limited to biosecurity, grading and sorting fish, loading fish into trucks.

Requirements

  • The ability to speak, read, understand and follow directions with or without reasonable accommodations is required.
  • Driver’s license and good driving record required with reliable transportation to and from the work site.

Nice To Haves

  • High school Education or GED preferred
  • Aquaculture experience preferred.
  • Aquaculture or related degree preferred.
  • Class B-CDL preferred

Responsibilities

  • Ability and willingness to perform all tasks on the farm, not being limited to one specific farm job or task; regardless of the job, skills required or seniority.
  • Responsibilities include removing and recording mortalities, feeding, sorting and grading fish.
  • Monitor fish behavior and bring any abnormalities to supervisor’s attention.
  • Load and unload fish at farms and processing plant, ensuring correct load sizes and grad-ing.
  • Proficient at implementing die changes that are required each day and ability to identify die sizes.
  • Ability to identify plugged feeder or dies.
  • Ability to determine, record, and reset stroke counters.
  • Ability to determine and record feed levels in silo.
  • Proficient in LOTO practices.
  • Assist with fish transfers.
  • Practicing safe driving techniques and ability to recognize specific challenges at assigned farm.
  • Ability to run the PTO system (pump on truck).
  • Ability to read the sight gauges and displacement calculations on the fish truck.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and systems. Routine cleaning including sweeping raceways, cleaning and repairing graders and equipment on farms.
  • Assist with population management, fish sampling, and research projects as needed.
  • Work with hatchery staff to coordinate movement and work in hatchery as needed.
  • Sort fish according to specification while paying close attention to detail and always work-ing towards continual improvement.
  • Always work to produce products people can trust by recognizing poor quality and communicating with management.
  • Complete all tasks including based on required safety guidelines.
  • Participate in all safety training
  • Perform any task on the farm, not just one specific job or task. No matter the job, skill or seniority of an individual.
  • Perform and practice bio-security procedures around the farm.
  • Maintain appropriate housekeeping and sanitation procedures on the farm ensuring proper protocol and required biosecurity measures are followed.
  • Provide prompt, friendly and courteous service when requests are made.
  • Help out with other areas on the farm when needed.
  • Continually pursue sustainability of our natural resources with every decision, decreasing waste and demonstrating appropriate choices.
  • Advocates for positive change and empowers others.
  • Other duties as required.
