At RA, our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are actively seeking Lifeguards to join our Aquatics team! The primary function of this position is to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming pool environment for all guests through vigilant surveillance, emergency response, and exceptional customer service. Lifeguards are the safety-minded monitors of the pool environment, preventing injuries and incidents through effective surveillance and quick action. They are also the public face of Reston Aquatics- friendly, knowledgeable, and committed to exceeding guest expectations. From scanning passes to tidying the facility, lifeguards help create a positive experience for every visitor. Key responsibilities include maintaining a hazard-free environment, enforcing facility policies fairly and consistently, and participating in regular practice of rescue skills and safety knowledge. Lifeguards provide effective surveillance and back-up coverage in rotation, assist with facility admissions and retail sales (at select locations), offer information to guests, perform routine cleaning, complete reports and forms, and assist with equipment. In emergency situations, lifeguards provide care in accordance with their training and certifications. Candidates must hold a current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification (provided upon hire) and are expected to consistently demonstrate the skills outlined in their certification, adhere to all standards and protocols associated with it, and maintain its validity through ongoing compliance and renewal as required. This position offers 10-20 hours per week, from May – September, with evening and weekend shifts as required to support department operations and special events. These hours depend on operational needs and are subject to change. Hourly wage will be based on the candidate’s experience, education, and overall fit for the role.
