About The Position

As an Adult Protective Services Investigator within our Adult Protective Services team, this role plays a critical part in protecting vulnerable adults by responding to Reports of Need, completing investigations, and ensuring health and safety through timely assessment, collaboration, and documentation. This position is well suited for someone who is independent, compassionate, detail-oriented, and able to make sound decisions in fast-paced, high-responsibility situations.

Requirements

  • One year of experience as an Aging Care Manager and a bachelor’s degree that includes or is supplemented by twelve college-level credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or a related social science; or
  • Three and one-half years of experience as an Aging Case Aide and twelve college-level credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or a related social science; or an equivalent combination of experience and training that includes twelve college-level credit hours in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, or a related social science, and
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal and external partners, and
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and decision-making skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Initiates and completes first responder, on-site assessments and evaluations triggered by Reports of Need (RONs).
  • Initiates and completes investigations as outlined in RON reports.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with the Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA).
  • Assesses individual needs and develops appropriate plans to ensure health and safety, including coordination with community partners when necessary.
  • Accurately and timely completes all investigative documentation within SAM’s electronic systems.
  • Determines appropriate responses following investigations, including medical intervention, involuntary commitment (302), or other protective actions as indicated.
  • Maintains required investigator certification and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, and regulations.
