About The Position

The APRN/ Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides advanced psychiatric care to individuals in both outpatient and residential settings. This role involves conducting psychiatric evaluations, prescribing and managing medications, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic, evidence-based treatment for clients with mental health disorders.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing with Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner certification.
  • Current state RN and APRN license; DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances, willing to obtain second licensure if not already licensed in both Nebraska and Iowa
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and telehealth platforms.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of psychiatric practice preferred; experience in both outpatient and residential settings desired.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric assessments and diagnostic evaluations.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with clients and care teams.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications as clinically indicated.
  • Provide crisis intervention and stabilization support when necessary.
  • Conduct scheduled medication management appointments.
  • Coordinate care with therapists, case managers, and primary care providers.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Provide psychiatric oversight for clients in residential programs.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings to review progress and adjust care plans.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations for residential psychiatric care.
  • Work closely with clinical staff to promote integrated care.
  • Educate staff on psychiatric best practices and medication protocols.
  • Serve as a resource for crisis planning and behavioral health interventions.
  • Adhere to HIPAA and confidentiality standards.
  • Maintain licensure and certifications as required by state law.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and outcome tracking.
