About The Position

Revive Ministries Inc. programs do not include a medical facility but recognizes that individuals participating in our programs who are recovering from addiction will also have physical health needs. The APRN is responsible for general medical oversight of clients while participating in Revive Life House. The APRN is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for clients in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care (assessment of health status, diagnosis, development of plan of care and treatment, implementation of treatment plan, and evaluation of patient status).

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum master’s degree in Nursing and be a current APRN with 2 years in license.
  • Must possess a current valid and unrestricted license from the Kentucky Licensing Board.
  • Experience in crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
  • Valid Kentucky driver’s license.
  • The APRN must meet all State and Federal guidelines for education and background clearance to practice.
  • Must meet all regulatory standards for nursing care for vulnerable populations.
  • Must have the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of nursing and medical principles, theories, techniques, and practices to perform the clinical evaluation and the medical management of patients with a men’s inpatient residential facility.
  • Knowledge of clinical research in addition to the biological aspects of the disease process and illness in a research environment.
  • Knowledge and ability to obtain and document complete health histories and physical examinations in addition to the ability to communicate and interpret the data obtained.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and interpret clinical data as they relate to the diagnosis and treatment of the patient as well as educate patients and families about their medical condition.
  • Knowledge of community resources needed for patients and their families.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with advanced interpersonal communication skills.
  • This includes the ability to perform computer-based work on a regular basis.
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries with clients as outlined in Agency Code of Ethics, Relationships with Clients, Former Clients, and Notification Requirements, and other policies while providing care of clients in residential setting.
  • Experience providing medical guidance and oversight to clients within Revive Life House.
  • Sound understanding of all federal and state regulations including HIPAA.
  • Must be able to work well with other staff and clients.
  • Some travel required.

  • Prefer medical substance abuse background.
  • Prefer experience working with various funding streams and ability to collaborate with our 3rd party billing company.

Responsibilities

  • Prescribing treatment for detoxification to include comfort measures, hydration, prescription medications as needed for severe symptoms.
  • Management of chronic medical issues to include referral to appropriate medical care providers; maintaining and adjusting medications; obtaining appropriate diagnostic studies.
  • Assess and treat acute illnesses or injuries.
  • Monitors the med room and manages RN staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate medical progress and modify treatment as needed.
  • Perform H&P assessment on new intakes to determine medical conditions that may impact recovery, need for prescription medications, identify existing or potential medical problems that the client may not be aware of having (e.g., hypertension).
  • Participates as a therapeutic team member for staff and clients in appropriate counseling situations.
  • Participate in all necessary staff meetings and hold weekly meetings with the medical team.
  • Be proficient in all Revive Life House rules policies and procedures.
  • Fill in as needed as requested by COO.
  • Provide education to clients and staff regarding disease processes and self-management of chronic conditions.
  • Ensure that staff are current in CPR/First Aid and Communicable Diseases/Blood borne pathogens education as well as any medical related CEU’s.
  • Initiate necessary policies/procedures related to medical processes and medication management; infection control, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with local pharmacies, medical/dental care providers and medical facilities.
  • Provides appropriate screening of staff and clients such as TB skin testing or immunizations.
  • Medical evaluations and treatment are guided by national standards of care established for specific illnesses or conditions.
  • Provide mandatory on-call coverage as needed by the agency for one week at a time, at least once per month.
  • Provide direct oversight of all medical staff as assigned by COO (RN, CMA, shift supervisors/medication management).
  • Will assume role as PCP for clients in Phase 2 and manage their medical care while within program.
  • All other duties assigned.
