About The Position

The position involves assisting physicians in the care and teaching of patients, particularly in the field of oncology. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant program.
  • Master’s degree required.
  • APRN or PA license in the appropriate state.
  • Prescriptive privileges or eligibility to apply.
  • Current certification from ANCC or ONS (AOCN-P).
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum 5 years experience as APRN or PA, specifically in Oncology.

  • Proficiency in a second language.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-site environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the physical and psychosocial status of patients through interviews, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies.
  • Write prescriptions for medication and blood products based on laboratory results.
  • Determine patient eligibility for entry into clinical trials based on findings.
  • Interpret and evaluate findings of studies/tests.
  • Relay appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
  • Administer therapeutic measures and obtain specimens as prescribed.
  • Dictate follow-up letters to referring physicians summarizing treatment, response, and plan.
  • Document and report care accurately and timely using appropriate forms and records.
  • Assist in managing family dynamics and coping mechanisms during patient care.
  • Conduct or participate in daily multi-disciplinary rounds for assigned patients.
  • Provide on-call coverage and perform hospital rounds as needed.
  • Triage patients to determine urgency of physician evaluation.
  • Assist staff in times of crisis or emergency.
  • Meet with the public to market and promote cancer treatment.
  • Determine work priorities, assign work, and ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Comply with all federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to patient privacy and rights.
  • Adhere to company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist in training new employees to related job duties.
