About The Position

As an integral part of the UAMS Hospitalist Care Team, the APRN/PA works collaboratively with the attending physicians and residents to ensure continuity of care to inpatient patients. The APRN/PAs help plan, implement, and evaluate health care treatments. Daily rounds, a variety of procedures, monitoring patient progress, and providing patient and family education are part of the wide scope of practice.

Requirements

  • APRN: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Acute Care Certification Plus APRN License
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas
  • 2 years of APRN experience
  • PA: Master's Degree in Physician Assistant
  • PA Licensure
  • 2 years of PA experience
  • Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines).
  • Must have normal communication and sensory requirements.
  • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated.

Nice To Haves

  • Nursing experience in the inpatient setting
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA license (must be obtained after hire).

Responsibilities

  • Maintains required audits for credentialing.
  • Engages in appropriate continuing education programs, maintains mandatory competencies, medical center computer-based learning modules, and health monitoring services.
  • Participates in institutional initiatives and encourages the participation of others.
  • Collaborates in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service.
  • Coordinates the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
  • Actively engage in service line meetings and take an approach to health care that shapes policies, programs, facility design, and day-to-day interactions.
  • Provides healthcare services to patients, which may include: comprehensive care during acute and chronic episodes of injury and illness, follow-up care during post-hospital clinic appointments, education and counseling of families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other healthcare providers and community resources when appropriate.
  • Works autonomously, as well as, in collaboration with a variety of disciplines to diagnose and manage health care problems; will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
  • Communicates and shares complete and unbiased information, assuring their colleagues receive timely, complete, and accurate information in order to make informed decisions.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
