About The Position

Peyton Manning Children's Hospital at Ascension St. Vincent is looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal trained Physician Assistant or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner) to join our team in our level 3 NICU. This is a great opportunity for the right candidate to partner with Ascension St. Vincent Evansville to provide medical services to patients. About the Opportunity: Care for critically ill newborns in a state-of-the-art Level III NICU Utilize advanced capabilities including therapeutic hypothermia, jet ventilation, high-frequency oscillatory ventilation, and neurally adjusted ventilatory assist (NAVA) Excellent pediatric subspecialty support from hospital-based pediatric cardiologists, gastroenterologists, neurologists, and other specialists Comprehensive OB service including MFM program, OB Clinic, and in house OB hospitalists Dedicated, highly-trained NICU nurses, respiratory therapists, dietitians, speech therapists, Physical and Occupational Therapists. Preferred Qualifications: Prefer at least 1 year of clinical experience in a level 3 or 4 NICU as an NNP or PA The Ideal Candidate: Excellent clinical, communication, and team-based skills Commitment to family-centered, evidence-based care About PMCH Evansville: Regional perinatal center with around 1,400 deliveries annually Specially-trained obstetric emergency teams and maternal-fetal medicine physicians State-of-the-art labor/delivery/recovery suite (newly renovated in 2024) Supportive, family-centered environment Pediatric Services at PMCH Evansville 32 Bed NICU with a full team of dedicated RNs, RTs, Dietitians, OT, PT and speech therapists 16 bed Pediatric Inpatient Unit with Pediatric Hospitalists 7 bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with Pediatric Intensivists Level II Pediatric Trauma Verification Dedicated NICU Transport Team 7 bed Emergency Room area dedicated for children with dedicated providers Established Outpatient Pediatric Specialty Clinic including full-time GI and part-time neurologist, pulmonologist, endocrinologist, dedicated pediatric registered dietitian and integrated pediatric psychologists. Full time pediatric cardiologist. Monthly pediatric hematology and orthopedic clinics. Sleep Disorders Clinic Behavioral based outpatient Feeding Program Outpatient Behavioral Health Program with pediatric psychologists and LCSWs Outpatient Family Navigators to ensure continuity of care Outpatient Pediatric Therapy Program (OT, PT Speech) Pediatric Dental Clinic Ronald McDonald House on campus Live, Work, Play in Evansville: Located on the Ohio River in southwest Indiana, Evansville offers an affordable cost of living, excellent schools, abundant outdoor recreation, and cultural amenities including museums, performing arts, sports, and dining. Requirements

  • Masters or Doctorate degree required
  • Must be Neonatal Nurse practitioner, Physician Assistant or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner w/ NICU residency board Certified/Eligible and must have Indiana License or must be eligible
  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Nurse Practitioner specializing in Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Master's degree of Nursing required.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview and examination of the NICU patient.
  • Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic studies.
  • Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions
  • Documents delivery of health care and nursing processes in accordance with specific specialty area standards and network nursing policy.
  • Procedures include - intubation, umbilical lines, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis/chest tube placement,
  • Attendance of high risk deliveries including stabilization and management of complex critical needs of the newborn
  • Team member of the St. Vincent critical care transport team (ground only) directing the stabilization, management and transport of neonates throughout the state.
