JOB OVERVIEW • Job Title: APPs – General Surgery • Job Type: Locum Tenens • Location: Potsdam, NY • Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient • Coverage Type: Clinical + Call • Coverage Period: August 6-28, 2026 (Potential extension through end of year) • Clinical Shift Schedule: Day shifts | 7:00a – 5:00p (10-hour shifts) | Flexible scheduling (3x12s, 4x10s, or 5x8s) • On-Call Shift Schedule: Weeknight call (5:00p – 7:00a) | Weekend call (Fri 5:00p – Mon 7:00a) • Call Type: Beeper • Call Response Time: Within 20 minutes (must remain local) COVERAGE DATES • August 6 – August 8, 2026 (3x12s) • August 21 – August 28, 2026 (Flexible schedule options) • Ongoing potential coverage through end of year PATIENT INFORMATION • Patient Demographics: Adults • Patient Volume/Census: 1:10–15 patient ratio • Admissions: Yes • Rounding: Included (weekends 8:00a – 12:00p) • Phone Consults: Yes • Case Mix: General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedic patients FACILITY INFORMATION • No. of Beds in Department: 109 total beds • EMR System: Epic • Office Equipment Available: Pyxis automated medication dispensing system • Specialty Backup Available: Surgery, Anesthesia • Support Staff Available: NP, LPN, Anesthesia team • Reason for Coverage: Supplemental coverage / staffing need PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE • Hospital Privileges Required: Yes COMPENSATION & BENEFITS • Travel, Lodging, and Malpractice Insurance: Covered per facility guidelines (receipts required, restrictions apply) REQUIRED PROCEDURES • Surgical first assist support • Suturing, stapling, and wound closure • Hemostasis and bleeding control • Suction, drainage, and irrigation • Patient positioning and intraoperative assistance JOB REQUIREMENTS • Licenses: Active NY license (in hand) • Board: Board Certified (NP or PA) • Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ATLS • Experience: Minimum 2 years recent experience in surgical setting • Other Qualifications: Epic experience required; strong communication skills DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide surgical first assist support in the operating room • Assist with patient care on medical-surgical floor including rounding and documentation • Manage patient orders, consults, and discharges • Perform procedural support including suturing, wound care, and bleeding control • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient care
