About The Position

Strittmatter Metro, LLC. is seeking Apprentices looking to build a career in the Excavation Industry. Apprentices will receive three years of training by working on construction jobsites, and in the classroom. Apprentices work year-round with a generous benefits package. Summary of the Apprenticeship program: Learn by assisting skilled journeymen in their duties Training and certification for traffic management Perform general laborer work to include jobsite clean-up and moving of materials by hand Learn to operate heavy construction equipment used in the excavation industry to include bobcats, mini excavators, bull dozers, articulated off-road trucks, track and tire loaders, and excavators. The training will be in accordance with the Company and OSHA procedures. Apprentices will be taught how to complete a pre- and post-trip inspection on the machinery. Attend offsite classroom training Work at the direction of the Foreman to perform all related tasks assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a safe manner in a construction zone
  • Demonstrate effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Read and comprehend related training materials and policies
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs, such as stand, bend, stoop, lift, and walk for long periods of time
  • Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change
  • Must possess the ability to use different tools such as picks, shovels, rakes, etc.
  • Ability to lift, carry or push/pull supplies, materials equipment and/or items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a thirteen-panel drug test
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Must be reliable, responsible and dependable
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather, and changing weather conditions
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, and independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, listening, and written) and work with personnel in stressful situations
