The Mellon Foundation (“Foundation”) is a not-for-profit, grantmaking organization that believes that the arts and humanities are where we express our complex humanity, and that everyone deserves the beauty, transcendence, and freedom to be found there. Through our grants, we seek to build just communities enriched by meaning and empowered by critical thinking, where ideas and imagination can thrive. The Foundation makes grants in four core program areas – Higher Learning, Arts and Culture, Public Knowledge, and Humanities in Place – and through its signature Presidential Initiatives. The Foundation seeks a Program Apprentice for the Humanities in Place program. Summary Reporting to the Program Director and working with the full team, the Program Apprentice will provide a wide range of administrative, organizational, and research support. This role is ideal for a graduate student seeking an opportunity to gain exposure to and experience with place-based cultural heritage, the built environment, and humanities projects and initiatives, as well as foundation operations, generally. The one-year apprenticeship begins in June 2026 and runs full-time (37.5 hours per week) through August 2026. It transitions into a part-time position (22.5 hours per week) from September through May 2027. Position Description
