About The Position
At Porsche River Oaks, a Sonic Automotive family dealership, the Apprentice Technician role is designed for individuals who have recently graduated from an automotive technician training school. The Apprentice Technician will work under the guidance of a Mentor, typically a Master Technician, who will provide support and share technical knowledge to help the apprentice acclimate to dealership operations. The primary responsibility of the Apprentice Technician is to perform vehicle repair and maintenance work as assigned by their team leader. This includes diagnosing the cause of any malfunctions and executing the necessary repairs. The apprentice is expected to examine vehicles to determine if additional service work is recommended and to keep abreast of factory technical bulletins and updates. Participation in factory-sponsored training classes is also a key component of this role, ensuring that the apprentice remains informed about the latest automotive technologies and practices. Quality job performance is paramount in this position, and the apprentice must demonstrate a commitment to safety and professionalism. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with graduation from a valid automotive technical training program. A valid driver's license and a good driving record are also necessary, as is the ability to pass a background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug test.
