About The Position
This role works under the direction of the Chief or Assistant Chief Engineer to assist in the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment. This role is part of a recognized apprenticeship program designed to provide hands-on experience and training. The apprentice helps operate and maintain boilers, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, elevators, water pumps, and other equipment, gaining experience in troubleshooting and fixing issues with building systems. They participate in routine inspections of fire prevention and safety equipment to ensure proper functioning and learn to identify potential issues and recommend necessary repairs. Through on-the-job training and related instruction, the apprentice develops skills in the operation, repair, and maintenance of complex machinery and equipment. Additionally, this role will assist in operating purification and water treatment equipment, performing water analysis, and maintaining logs and reports.
