Apprentice Plumbers are charged with assisting licensed plumbers to maintain, inspect, and modify new or current plumbing systems within residential, commercial, and industrial buildings and other areas. This position requires the apprentice to enroll in a 4-year DOL (Dept. of Labor) Registered Apprenticeship and he/she must make satisfactory progress towards receiving the DOL Certificate of Completion. They will assist with maintaining, installing, and dismantling all types of pipelines, fittings and hydraulics as required for new construction, service, and maintenance (both rough-in and trim-out). Gas line installation and repair are part of this occupation so adherence to Federal, State, and local code is paramount. Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills are required as well as a desire to learn plumbing codes and regulations. Apprentice Plumbers are fully responsible for their own safety and the safety of those around them and must identify hazards or potential hazardous and create and submit Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
