About The Position

The Apprentice Optician creates exceptional value in the lives of patients by delivering exceptional service. This role involves a commitment to providing unsurpassed Patient Experience through various Sales and Service Process steps, including greeting the patient, explaining the process transparently, assisting with merchandise selection, solving visual problems, tendering, and dispensing eyewear. The Apprentice Optician also assists patients in selecting frames and lenses that best suit their vision, lifestyle, and budgetary needs, while suggesting improvements and solutions to complex customer product needs and prescriptions. Additionally, the role requires anticipating problems, exploring underlying reasons for recurring customer issues, and striving to develop long-term solutions. The Apprentice Optician must show patience and courtesy with patients, ensure finished eyewear meets optical standards, and take personal ownership to achieve both personal and practice results. This position also serves as a role model for development and a technical resource for all staff, operating the Point of Sale terminal with accuracy and attention to detail.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Part of a sanctioned Optician Apprenticeship Program within a licensed state
  • Strong customer service skills: communicator, listener, and team builder
  • Knowledge of current optical theory and merchandise
  • Strong basic math skills
  • Awareness of current fashion trends
  • Sales and service skills
  • Familiarity with POS, computers, and calculators
  • Embrace new technology and change
