About The Position

Matrix Plastic Products is seeking a hands-on, motivated, and experienced Apprentice Mold Maker to join our injection molding team. This position assists experienced mold makers in fabricating, repairing, and maintaining molds and mold components used in manufacturing processes. The apprentice will learn and perform essential tasks related to mold making, ensuring molds meet required specifications and quality standards through maintenance and repair.

Ability to operate shop equipment (Vertical mills and surface grinders) a plus
Knowledge of plastic injection molds a plus
High School Diploma or GED required

Responsibilities

Participate in the repair and maintenance of existing molds, identifying and rectifying defects to ensure proper functionality
Frequently move materials and mold components weighing up to 50 pounds across the manufacturing floor and work areas for various needs
Constantly operates hand and power tools to prepare, inspect, and position mold materials and components
Occasionally position self to work on molds at various heights and in confined spaces
Have the ability to communicate information and ideas to supervisors and colleagues regarding the progress and any issues related to mold making. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations
Have the ability to observe details at close range to inspect mold components for accuracy and defects
Detect and identify any deviations from specifications during the mold-making process
Adheres to all safety procedures and guidelines in the performance of duties
Maintains a clean and organized work area
