Requirements

  • Knowledge of electric code requirements.
  • Skill in performing electric system maintenance and repair activities.
  • Skill in participating in outage restoration activities.
  • Skill in comprehending and following workplace safety rules.
  • Skill in reading schematics and working with high voltage lines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Visual ability to observe and detect dangerous obstacles and pedestrians.

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate bucket and digger derrick trucks.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of digging equipment.
  • Provide Journey Lineman with materials and ensure truck is properly stocked.
  • Prepare sites for primary and secondary work, including groundwork for setting poles.
  • Assist in setting and removing utility poles and installing transformers.
  • Pull new conductors, bond wires, and install various electrical equipment.
  • Assist in the construction and maintenance of underground electrical distribution lines.
  • Read electrical schematics, maps, and blueprints.
  • Install and maintain street lights and other lighting systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting duties to locate faults and make repairs.
  • Flag traffic at work sites and inventory supplies.
