About The Position

As an Apprentice Jeweler, you will work alongside experienced jewelers to learn the craft of jewelry repair and fine jewelry creation at Signet's Design & Service Centers. This entry-level position focuses on skill development and improving workshop productivity by assisting jewelers in various stages of the repair and creation process. Responsibilities include polishing, quality control, and customer consultations, all aimed at delivering exceptional service and quality.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in jewelry or related fields
  • GIA certifications (preferred)
  • Degrees such as BA, BFA, MA, MFA (preferred)
  • Trade school experience (preferred)
  • Membership in Jewelers of America (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Clean and polish jewelry using polishing wheels and chemical baths
  • Maintain proper chemical and safety knowledge
  • Ensure proper tool maintenance in the Design & Service Center
  • Keep a clean work environment
  • Perform quality control after becoming QC certified
  • Cross-train on the Signet Repair System
  • Assist where needed in the Design & Service Center
  • Polish repairs in groups of 20, ensuring no like merchandise is mixed
  • Batch lab-created diamond merchandise separately for quality control
  • Verify merchandise in the repair bag matches the description on the repair ticket
  • Review identifying features and confirm ID tags match
  • Communicate any unnoted damages or unclear instructions to stores
  • Ensure all work is completed according to Signet's quality standards
  • Verify all customer requests have been completed
  • Maintain a properly stocked work station with consumable materials
