Apprentice Highways Operative

About the position

This 18-month programme will develop your practical, technical and soft-skills, with Health & Safety at the heart of everything you do. On successful completion of your apprenticeship, you will gain a Highways Maintenance Skilled Operative Level 2 qualification and a permanent, long-term career with Milestone! You'll be joining our Highways maintenance team, as the UK's number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.

Responsibilities

• Highways Maintenance (e.g. pothole repairs, grass cutting, winter gritting services)
• Providing traffic management for a diversity of projects.
• Working as part of our multi-disciplined teams to deliver innovative solutions to highways maintenance.
• Depending on your location you may be required to travel to college on block release with fellow apprentices and stay in a hotel for your relaxation time.

Requirements

• Willingness to learn new skills and work as part of a team.
• Physical fitness and willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.
• Functional Skills requirements equivalent to Maths and English GCSE at grade E or above.
• The Right to Work in the UK (you must have lived in the UK for 3+ years)
• Valid UK driving licence (or be on track to achieve this within a year)
