About The Position

Visa’s Technology Apprenticeship Program is designed for those with no prior experience interested in receiving hands-on IT training with an organization while also earning a salary. Global Operations Apprenticeship: This program combines classroom training, hands-on mentorship, and real-world projects to help launch a career as a member of our Global Operations Support team at Visa. Apprentices will begin with a 15-week bootcamp where they will receive full-time classroom-style education that will prepare them for On-the-Job Training (OJT). This period is officially known as Related Technical Instruction (RTI). During the RTI period, Apprentices will be contracted as employees of our Apprenticeship Provider, Apprenti. Upon successful completion of RTI, including satisfactory performance review, employment with Visa will begin. At the conclusion of the year of OJT, those who have successfully completed the program may have the opportunity to be considered for promotion to full-time employment. Role Overview The apprentice will be trained to support proactive monitoring and incident response for enterprise systems, network operations, and applications within a 24/7 Operations Command Center. This position ensures service continuity by identifying, triaging, and escalating issues according to established protocols. It serves as a critical first line of defense for operational stability. Specific assignments will depend upon your skill sets and team needs. By applying for this position, your application is automatically considered across multiple teams. Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
  • Have basic problem-solving skills/analytical mindset
  • Must be local and available to work in person in Ashburn, VA
  • Not currently enrolled in or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree program in a related technical field (cybersecurity, software engineering, etc.)
  • Interest in pursuing a career in the payments space
  • Apprentices will need to provide their own computers during RTI period. The following tech specifications are required:
  • Windows 10 or macOS 10
  • Windows Processor – non ARM type (Intel or AMD only – need for Adobe Connect to function)
  • RAM 8GB minimum (12GB – 16 GB recommended)
  • Solid State Drive – minimum 40 gigs free space
  • Webcam
  • Headset (Noise Cancelling Mic Headset preferred)
  • Internet connection at least 2Mb up/down
  • Dedicated workspace (Bootcamp will be 8+ hours at your desk daily)
  • 2nd monitor or XL monitor

  • Demonstrated interest in technology shown through education, certifications, bootcamps, experience, skills, projects, or tech community memberships.

Responsibilities

  • Client Advocacy & Support: Act as the first point of contact for Visa clients, including financial institutions and vendors, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Incident & Network Operations Management: Proactively monitor systems and network operations, detect and analyze outages using VOCC tools, and escalate incidents promptly per established guidelines.
  • Bridge Stewardship & Communication: Manage internal and external incident bridges to facilitate rapid resolution and provide clear, timely communications to stakeholders.
  • Impact Assessment & Reporting: Evaluate incident impact and draft communications for distribution within defined timeframes, ensuring accuracy and professionalism.
  • Operational Execution: Support scheduled changes and perform troubleshooting across multiple platforms independently while adhering to standard procedures.
