About The Position

The Apprentice is responsible for assisting journeyman electricians in planning, installing, and repairing electrical systems. This position performs maintenance tasks, troubleshoot electrical issues, and learns how to safely handle electrical equipment and tools. The apprentice will receive on-the-job training and are required to be enrolled in a classroom-based apprenticeship program to enhance their knowledge and skills in the electrical trade.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • A strong willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills for interacting with coworkers and clients.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Enrollment in an accredited electrical apprenticeship program required.
  • Previous experience in electrical, construction or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Learn from journeyman electricians to perform the installation of electrical systems, wiring, lighting, and equipment according to local and national electrical codes.
  • Participate in conducting routine maintenance of electrical systems to ensure they are in proper working condition.
  • Learn to interpret and follow electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams to plan and execute installations accurately.
  • Using testing devices to check the functionality of electrical systems, identify faults, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Stay updated on local and national electrical codes and regulations.
  • Interact with clients to understand their electrical needs, provide recommendations, and address any concerns.
  • Participate in diagnosing electrical issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring safety standards are followed.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed.
  • Attend training sessions, workshops, and educational classes to enhance skills and knowledge.
  • Travel to job sites in the Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana area.
