About The Position

The Apprentice Cable Splicer (ACS) position at Georgia Power is a critical role within the Network Underground Services (NUS) team, responsible for assisting in the construction and maintenance of underground electrical systems across Georgia. This position is part of a comprehensive training program designed to develop skills necessary for becoming a Journeyman Cable Splicer. The role requires working in various environments, including enclosed spaces and at heights, while ensuring safety and quality in all tasks performed.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude or background is necessary.
• Minimum of 1 year of work experience in construction, heavy industrial maintenance, utility, military, or electrical experience is preferred.
• Experience working outdoors with heavy equipment/machinery is a plus.
• Candidates with Network or Distribution underground experience are strongly desired.

Nice To Haves

• Military experience is a plus.
• Experience with emergency responders, commercial truck driving, and farming is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the construction and maintenance of network underground systems and high-reliability distribution systems.
• Learn and perform installation, splicing, and terminating of various electrical cables.
• Operate equipment such as cranes, lifts, aerial devices, and cable pulling equipment.
• Work in enclosed spaces such as manholes, vaults, and tunnels, and at heights in lifts and scaffolds.
• Participate in the Cable Splicer Development Program (CSDP) to gain necessary skills and knowledge.
