There are still lots of open positions. Let's find the one that's right for you.
The JATC for the NYC District Council of Carpenters (NYCDCC) is conducting a recruitment for various apprenticeship positions, including Carpenter (Piledriver/Dockbuilder), Linoleum, Resilient Tile, and Carpet Layer, Cabinet Maker, and Millwright apprentices. This recruitment will take place from August 14, 2024, through August 13, 2025, with a total of 68 positions available across the different trades. Interested applicants must attend an in-person information session at the NYCDCC located at 395 Hudson Street, New York, NY 10014. These sessions are scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month from 9 AM to 10 AM, excluding December and January. It is crucial for applicants to arrive on time, as no entry will be permitted after 9 AM. Off-site and virtual sessions may be added if necessary, but spaces are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. During the information session, attendees will receive a passcode that allows them to complete an online application, which must be submitted within 60 days of the session date. It is important to note that applicants can only apply for one trade, and their application will be kept on file for two years. After this period, they must reapply. Those who meet the requirements will be scheduled for an interview, which is the only opportunity to be considered for the apprenticeship. Punctuality is essential, as late arrivals will be disqualified. Accepted applicants will receive an instruction sheet detailing the required original documents needed for the program. To qualify for the apprenticeship, applicants must meet several requirements, including being at least 17 years old, possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, and being able to perform the physical demands of the trade. This includes working in various weather conditions, lifting a minimum of 50 pounds, and passing a substance abuse screening. Additionally, applicants must be U.S. citizens or have the legal right to work in the United States and must provide reliable transportation to job sites and classes. For further information, applicants can contact the NYCDCC directly or seek job search assistance at their local NYS Department of Labor Career Center.
