About The Position

The Bar Apprentice at Oscar's Plaza Hotel & Casino is responsible for providing excellent service to guests at the bar, maintaining cleanliness and stock levels, and assisting bartenders with various tasks. This role requires a focus on customer service, teamwork, and adherence to health and safety regulations while ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for guests.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of previous Apprentice Bartending experience
  • 1 year of customer service experience
  • Working knowledge of spirits, wine, and food
  • Working knowledge of liquor dispensing guns
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to lead and mentor a team
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and oral forms

  • Previous experience working in a similar resort setting

Responsibilities

  • Clean all equipment, tools, and supplies and maintain equipment in good working order
  • Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner and make them feel welcome
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the bar
  • Stock the bar with supplies necessary for service
  • Complete opening side duties including checking quality and amount of all bar stock and supplies
  • Assist bartenders in executing service and following their direction
  • Re-fill ice coolers, garnish trays, straws, and napkins
  • Perform all opening and closing duties based on shift assignment
  • Bid farewell to guests, using their names when known, and encourage them to return
  • Anticipate guests' needs and respond appropriately with a sense of urgency
  • Work as a team, assisting all guests' and employees' needs and inquiries
  • Effectively communicate with management, bartenders, and service staff to address any issues or needs
  • Follow all procedures and policies set forth by the company, division, and department
  • Follow all health and safety regulations
  • Mix and serve drinks following standard recipes
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, liquor brands, beers, and non-alcoholic selections
  • Ensure maximum usage of all supplies to attain budgeted beverage cost and prevent waste
  • Use all chemicals in accordance with OSHA regulations and hotel requirements
  • Monitor potentially intoxicated guests and refuse further service in a courteous manner
  • Comply with all state and federal liquor laws
