About The Position

Employee performs construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures using Oncor construction standards manuals. Work is performed under the direction of others and with the approval of the supervisor in charge. Work is done on conductors and equipment energized at distribution voltages using approved protective equipment. Employee will be required to work off wood poles, insulated platforms, and bucket trucks using approved safety practices and rules. Employee expected to perform other duties as directed. Employee must be able to lift 75 pounds above his/her head on a regular basis. The employee must be able to achieve the necessary skill levels to successfully advance in the Oncor Lineman Training Program within a reasonable time frame commensurate with proven work experience and abilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 plus years of related distribution utility construction work experience is encouraged to apply.
  • Class A CDL driver's license is required.
  • A certificate or degree from an accredited lineman school is encouraged to apply.
  • Associate's degree in electrical technology or related field is encouraged to apply.
  • Basic computer skills and software such as Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and Outlook a plus.
  • Proof of successful lineman and safety training programs.
  • Ability to climb wood poles.
  • Commitment to Oncor Core Values.
  • Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform construction and maintenance of overhead and underground distribution lines and structures.
  • Work under the direction of supervisors and comply with safety practices.
  • Lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Achieve necessary skill levels for advancement in the Oncor Lineman Training Program.
  • Be on-call in a scheduled rotation and available for overtime work.
  • Travel outside the district when needed.
