About The Position

The Appointment Coordinator Float serves as an initial contact for patients and customers, in-person and via telephone, and assists them in a manner consistent with Marshfield Clinic Health Systems’ customer service standards. The Appointment Coordinator Float assesses needs of the patients or customers to determine appropriate scheduling with health care providers within a time and sequence acceptable to the patient and customer’s needs and Clinic policy. This position is not assigned to a specific practice and will spend 50% or more of their time outside of their assigned home department performing Appointment Coordinator functions.

Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in keyboard, computer, and telephone use.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a Medical Terminology course.
• Graduate of a vocational technical Health Unit Coordinator Program, Medical Office Specialist, or Medical Secretary.
• Six months’ previous experience in a healthcare facility with direct patient contact or previous customer service experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the initial contact for patients and customers, both in-person and via telephone.
• Assist patients and customers in accordance with customer service standards.
• Assess needs of patients or customers to determine appropriate scheduling.
• Schedule appointments with health care providers based on patient and customer needs.
• Perform Appointment Coordinator functions outside of assigned home department.
