About The Position

The Applied Sports Science Associate will support the Health and Performance staff at the Cincinnati Reds Player Development Complex, focusing on the application of scientific methods to enhance player health and performance. This role involves managing athlete monitoring programs, analyzing data, and contributing to player development initiatives.

Requirements

• Enrolled in or completed undergraduate or graduate degree programs in sport or exercise science, kinesiology, or related field.
• > 1 year experience working in sports environments with athletes.
• Spoken and written fluency in English.
• Willing to relocate to Goodyear, AZ.

Nice To Haves

• CSCS and/or CPSS certification.
• Spanish language ability desired.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as R or Python.

Responsibilities

• Aid with the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of data from the established athlete monitoring program.
• Manage all aspects of the athlete monitoring program for the Reds ACL team in Goodyear.
• Integrate with AZ Rehab staff to assess, monitor, and interpret athlete monitoring data during rehabilitation processes.
• Assist with managing player health and performance data, including data entry, cleaning, analysis, and report preparation.
• Administer and oversee testing protocols to evaluate physical and physiological responses to training and competition.
• Support individualized player development plans by integrating performance data and applied research insights.
• Evaluate the validity and reliability of current and emerging technologies and testing protocols.
• Conduct exploratory, descriptive, and statistical analyses on datasets to uncover insights.
• Perform literature and research reviews on topics pertinent to Health & Performance and Player Development initiatives.
• Maintain and manage the inventory of sports science equipment.
• Contribute to research projects and other Applied Sports Science initiatives.
• Ensure ethical management of player performance data.
