About The Position

The Applied Seed Technology Manager at KWS Seeds LLC is responsible for overseeing the Applied Technology and Seed Trial teams, providing technical support for seed processing, and managing research activities aimed at improving processing efficiency and agronomic practices related to sugar beet seed quality. This role involves designing and supervising research projects, analyzing data to enhance seed quality, and collaborating with various departments and international colleagues to implement new technologies and practices.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in an applicable field; PhD preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience in seed physiology, technology, and production.
  • Minimum of 5 years working experience in Sugarbeet seed production or technology.
  • Knowledge in experimental design and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of statistical techniques and concepts and their applications.
  • Experience visualizing and presenting data for stakeholders.
  • Experience with Deep Learning frameworks (Pytorch or Tensorflow).
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership, communication, organizational and training skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, manage and supervise research projects for improving seed processing and agronomic practices.
  • Scale up new technology from project design to implementation in commercial processing facilities and field production activities.
  • Determine critical data field staff need to record and the format for comparing seed quality and yield to growing conditions.
  • Gather and analyze data from field production, seed processing, and quality control to identify areas of improvement.
  • Ensure integration of Applied Technology and Seed Trial staff with other departments.
  • Work with department supervisors to combine data to improve seed quality and recovery.
  • Identify key factors in field production that optimize seed quality and processing objectives.
  • Meet frequently with stakeholders on project advancement and data collection.
  • Lead teams to ensure activities follow project design and SOPs.
  • Manage field emergence trials and present data to stakeholders.
  • Communicate and collaborate with KWS colleagues in Germany on seed processing and production activities.
  • Stay updated on advances in seed physiology and technology.
