The Field Service Scheduling team within Business & Industry Copilots (BIC) seeks a Applied Scientist II to help realize our vision of building a state-of-the-art scheduling service that sets the standard for our industry. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)
  • OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Master’s or PhD focus in Artificial Intelligence (Planning and Scheduling), Operations Research (OR) or a related field.
  • Background in Multi-agent Planning and Scheduling and/or Operations Research.
  • Experience running your algorithms in a production environment and responding to customer inquiries.
  • Experience in reinforcement learning.
  • Experience in vehicle routing problems or scheduling optimization (algorithms).
  • Experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Experience in Genetic / heuristic scheduling algorithms
  • Proven experience in solving vehicle routing problems.
  • Demonstrated analytical abilities to dissect complex problems and propose effective solutions

Responsibilities

  • Optimization experience with scheduling algorithms
  • Keep abreast of state-of-the-art approaches (including deep learning models) to address vehicle routing problems.
  • Be a member of the product team, designing experiments, creating benchmarks and identifying success metrics, and writing production code to implement the scheduling algorithm(s) with high quality.
  • Collaborate closely with research organizations to bridge the gap between research and practice.
  • Travel: Occasional travel (0% to 25%) is expected in this role.
