About The Position

Meta is seeking Audio Applied Scientists to continue to push the envelope and help build technologies that will connect the next billion people.

Requirements

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta
  • Experience with C or C++ and with scientific programming languages such as MATLAB, python or similar
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

Nice To Haves

  • Proven track record of innovation as demonstrated via grants, fellowships, patents, internships, work experience, and/or coding competitions
  • Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment
  • Academic or industry research and/or development experience in at least one of the following areas: small-footprint ML, acoustic echo cancellation, acoustic feedback cancellation, beamforming, microphone array processing, single- or multi-channel noise reduction, wide dynamic range compression (WDRC), binaural processing, spatialization, source localization, hearing aid processing, cochlear implant processing, auditory scene analysis, low-bitrate speech codecs, lossy audio compression, perceptual audio quality metrics

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and develop advanced speech and audio signal processing algorithms.
  • Build specialized machine learning (ML) models for resource-constrained platforms (e.g., mobile/wearables).
  • Implement and optimize audio processing algorithms for embedded platforms.
  • Analyze audio recordings and simulator outputs to uncover insights into audio processing system performance and function.
  • Develop new perceptual audio quality metrics applicable to new product experiences.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning for the next generation of platforms.
  • Collaborate with DSP engineers, audio systems engineers, product managers, user experience researchers, hearing scientists, psychoacoustics researchers, and other disciplines to create new technologies and integrate them into products.
