We are looking for ambitious and hardworking individuals to join our Risk Science team in Austin as an Applied Researcher I. Here, you will play a crucial role in crafting the future of global commerce and making a significant, positive impact on millions of eBay sellers and shoppers worldwide.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as computer science, math, or statistics.
  • Experience working with Big Data tools such as Hadoop, Hive, and Spark.
  • Expertise in machine learning packages like Python and R.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Scala.
  • Background in various modeling techniques, including GBM, logistic regression, clustering, deep learning, etc.
  • Excellent analytical skills with a proven problem-solving ability.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the risk department by bringing to bear big data technologies to aggregate and structure data.
  • Conduct statistical analysis and develop algorithmic solutions to minimize fraud and oversee our buyers and sellers.
  • Research and develop new methodologies and techniques to improve risk management.
  • Act as the technical owner of projects, customizing analytic tools, techniques, and processes.
  • Develop tracking and reporting systems to determine the efficiency of models and risk initiatives.
  • Build and develop systems to transform petabytes of data into statistically significant features for modeling.
  • Collaborate with Business Unit Partners and Policy Makers to build scalable and repeatable solutions.
  • Partner with the Data Engineering team to deploy models to the Production environment.
