Duties as an ABA Technician will vary depending on the particular assignment. It is possible to be working with one student, a group of students, or a large group in the general education or substantially separate setting. Duties may include: Providing coverage for Classroom/Sped teachers for meetings Preparing materials for teachers in the Special Education department Setting up assistive technology for student use Participating in weekly training/consultation with classroom teacher Reinforcing previously taught concepts in a small group setting Communicating with liaison regarding progress of students Administering daily content area tests/quizzes as well as standardized tests Documenting student progress both academically and behaviorally Reinforcing instruction of general education under the direction of a Special Education Teacher â Accompanying students to General Education classroom and providing modifications to instruction â Assisting with lifts and transfers Ensuring safety of students as they use adaptive equipment Constant monitoring and alert nurse of medical needs Assisting with self-help skills, including but not limited to clothing, feeding, toileting â Supporting students at job sites and/or during a variety of community trips Participating in student progress meetings when requested, and provide input for progress reports and objectives; inform appropriate staff of program changes and updates Completing parent communication logs and district documents as required Participating in required professional development, such as restraint training, CPR/First Aid certification, and staff meetings and extended day sessions Demonstrating flexibility when daily schedules change Working Extended School Days (home training sessions) or Extended School Year program (5 weeks July-August), requirement for some positions Being aware of and adhering to confidentiality protocol Completing other duties that are designated by the Lead Teacher and/or Behavior Specialist, Building Principal or Director of Pupil Services Duties specific to ABA Technicians: Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum programs and modifications, including but not limited to augmentative communication devices, task analysis, and discrete trial materials Maintaining students' program books, including but not limited to organizing assessments, documenting programmatic changes, and conducting reinforcement assessments â Implementing instructional and behavioral programs as designed by the Behavior Specialist â Using ABA procedures to conduct and amend student programs and record appropriate data in pull-out and inclusion settings. This includes, but is not limited to, discrete trials, social stories, and social skills training Modeling ABA techniques and provide support for other staff as requested by the Behavior Specialist Conducting data collection at all stages of skill acquisition Anticipated duty positions (in addition to work schedule): Bus Monitors (AM and PM runs) Cafeteria Duty Supporting students during extracurricular activities
