About The Position
This role is for an Applied AI Engineer within a small data team at an insurance company that operates like a startup. The primary focus is on building and shipping AI-powered tools that transform business operations, including internal copilots, intelligent automation, and smarter analytics interfaces. The engineer will work closely with the Analytics Engineering Lead and report to the Head of Data Science, contributing to both immediate builds and long-term AI strategy. This is an engineering role centered on AI, distinct from research or prompt engineering.
Requirements
- 5+ years across software engineering, data science, AI development, or some combination
- Real LLM application experience, not just experimentation
- Comfortable owning your own scope in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
- Ability to build things with AI that real people use
- Ability to move from idea to working prototype quickly and have the judgment to know when to push to production versus when to start over
- Follow the AI space closely, have opinions about where it’s heading, and can explain those opinions to people who aren’t engineers
