Job Summary: Serve as a technical resource for the Sales Engineering and Aftermarket Teams by supporting quote development and new order processing. The role focuses on customer specification review, ASME code compliance, mechanical design, industry standards, testing, and fabrication. The position bridges sales, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customers to ensure technically sound and commercially competitive solutions.

Requirements

  • Foundational knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
  • Strong interest and foundational knowledge of heat transfer and hydraulics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or chemical engineering.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ASME, TEMA, NACE, API standards (Preferred).
  • Experience interpreting customer specifications and technical documents (Preferred).
  • Knowledge of heat exchanger design and pressure vessels (Preferred).
  • Proficiency with HTRI software (Preferred).
  • Exposure to refinery and petrochemical processes (Preferred).
  • Experience preparing proposals for EPCs and end users (Preferred).
  • 2–3 years of experience in heat exchanger technical sales or estimating (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Sales Engineering and Aftermarket teams to interpret customer inquiries and develop accurate technical and commercial quotations.
  • Review customer specifications related to mechanical design, ASME code requirements, welding, NDE, testing, and fabrication; identify exceptions, clarifications, and risks as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with Welding and Quality teams to review and address customer welding procedures, NDE requirements, and quality specifications.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Purchasing teams to assess fabrication capabilities, material availability, and lead-time constraints, and communicate technical and commercial impacts to Sales Engineering.
  • Interface directly with customers to resolve technical issues and support order acquisition by proposing innovative, compliant, and cost-effective technical solutions.
  • Apply knowledge of ASME Section VIII Division 1, API 663, API 660, TEMA, and other applicable industry standards to evaluate design feasibility, manufacturing constraints, and cost impacts.
  • Lead the technical portion of the order hand-off process from Sales to the Execution/Project team to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Perform preliminary mechanical and thermal designs of heat exchangers using appropriate design tools and engineering judgment.
