About The Position

Responsible for processing, tool layouts, and programming of CNC multi-axis machines. This includes creating proposals for new parts from customer prints, indicating appropriate machine tools, materials, cycle times, tooling costs, subsequent operations, and outside services needed. The role also involves documentation, tool layout, and creating offset prints to communicate to machine operators. Additionally, the position requires CNC programming, process engineering, training personnel, continuous improvement, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery.

Requirements

  • At least 3-5 years of machine programming experience.
  • Knowledge of machining processing and CNC machines.
  • Knowledge of blue print reading, GDT, inspection equipment, and tooling.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Create proposal for new parts from customer print.
  • Indicate appropriate machine tool, material, cycle time/ parts per hour, tooling cost, subsequent operations, and outside services needed.
  • Create tool layout sheet specifying all tooling and hardware needed to setup a specific job in a specific machine tool.
  • Identify Autocrib inventory number for perishable tooling.
  • Create color coded offset print to communicate to the machine operator what tool affects what geometry on the piece part.
  • Maintain and update layouts and offset prints to keep current with process improvements and changes.
  • Create machining process including sequence of operations, machine tool selection, cutting tool selection, work holding selection, and appropriate machining processes.
  • Determine appropriate machining parameters based on work piece material and cutting tool material.
  • Create CNC program using Partmaker or Espirit CAD CAM software for various CNC machines.
  • Setup part files in the Zoller tool presetter for all Index and Star ST38 processes.
  • Train personnel on machine setup, machine operation, and machine repair.
  • Monitor and improve cycle time and process capability on all CNC machines.
  • Perform machine setups when department is behind or when setup person is absent.
  • Attend corrective action meetings with quality control to provide technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery, seeking advice from machine manufacturers when necessary.
  • Locate and secure economical replacement components needed for machine repair.
  • Coordinate repair and remanufacture of mechanical and electronic machine components.
  • Manufacture repair and replacement parts for machine tools.
