About The Position

The Application Architect II will play a pivotal role in shaping the technology landscape of our organization, ensuring the development and implementation of cutting-edge application architectures. The Application Architect II will provide technical leadership, guide development teams, and contribute to the strategic direction of our IT solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years related experience in an Application Architect or similar leadership role.
  • Extensive knowledge of application development life cycle, software design principles, and architectural patterns.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing scalable, distributed, and high-performance applications.
  • Experience with cloud-based application architectures.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
  • 5 plus years of experience in a similar role in a Healthcare setting with proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks.
  • Relevant certifications in application architecture, enterprise architecture, or cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Architecture Planning: Lead the strategic planning and design of scalable and future-proof application architectures. Collaborate with leadership to align technology strategies with organizational goals.
  • Technology Assessment and Integration: Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and open-source solutions for adoption. Oversee the seamless integration of new technologies into existing application ecosystems.
  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical leadership to development teams, guiding them in architectural best practices. Mentor and develop technical talent within the organization.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Lead the resolution of complex technical challenges related to application architecture. Provide expertise in troubleshooting issues and optimizing system performance.
  • Governance and Standards: Define and enforce coding standards, architectural principles, and best practices. Adhere to governance processes to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Collaboration with Stakeholders: Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and align technology solutions. Translate business needs into effective and scalable technical solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, advocating for the adoption of new technologies and methodologies. Establish and implement strategies for enhancing the efficiency, security, and reliability of application architectures.
  • Speak and read English at a level that is sufficient to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of the position. Knowledge of and personal computer and computer software skills (i.e., MS Windows, Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, internet, e-mail). Performs other duties as assigned. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.
