Bruker Nano, one of Bruker’s four operating segments, provides customers in academic and governmental institutions, life science, materials, and applied industries with the tools to determine the characteristics of matter and visualize the structure of molecules. Divisions within BNANO include Bruker AXS, Bruker Nano Analytics, Bruker Nano Surfaces and Metrology, Fluorescence Microscopy, and Canopy. The Bruker AXS Division with US office located at Madison, WI is looking for an Applications Scientist to join our team and support product lines from Micro X-ray fluorescence and electron microscopy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) with 3-5 years’ work experience, Master’s Degree (M.Sc.) with 1-2 years experience or PhD is desirable, but not required
  • Work experience in the field of XRF (Geology, Chemistry, Physics, materials science or related scientific field) for elemental and/or chemical analysis
  • Solid knowledge of X-ray fluorescence and electron spectroscopy or microscopy
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and applications and general enthusiasm for scientific instruments
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with stakeholders, both inside and outside the company
  • Ability to work with diverse and international teams
  • Positive attitude and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent time management skills and work ethic
  • Experience with MS Office Suite (PPT, Excel, MS Word, Teams)
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% with some international travel
  • Fluent in English (knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, French or German is a plus)
  • Valid Driver License in good standing, issued by resident state required.
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.
  • Maintain a valid passport with flexibility for domestic and international travel.
  • If not local, willing to move to Madison, WI.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with chemical/elemental mapping beneficial
  • Analytical Geology (Mineralogy) background is seen as a plus.
  • Knowledge of related methods (ICP, NIR, XRD) is considered a plus
  • Fluent in English (knowledge of Spanish, Portuguese, French or German is a plus)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze customer samples, create detailed reports, and present findings to customers
  • Demonstrate the instruments and software packages to potential customers
  • Represent Bruker AXS at trade shows, conferences, webinars, and online events
  • Develop and present new analytical applications
  • Assist sales with product presentations and discussions
  • Plan and execute advanced user training online or at customer sites
  • Provide support for application and technical questions related to the product line
  • Support R&D during new product development (prototype and SW testing)
  • Generate content for sales collaterals, and social media, e.g. application notes or white papers
  • Create and present scientific work
  • Maintain instruments in the demo laboratory and ensure good working conditions
