Boise Cascade is looking for an Application Programmer/Analyst to join the Information Technology Team in Southern Oregon! This role involves resolving production problems and user calls, logically diagnosing and solving software and hardware problems in a Microsoft environment, and providing operation and technical support for business applications. The position also includes system development for projects such as new reports or systems enhancements.

  • Resolve production problems and user calls.
  • Logically diagnose and solve software and hardware problems in a Microsoft environment.
  • Provide operation and technical support for business applications.
  • Provide system development for projects such as new reports or systems enhancements.
  • Discuss programs or change requirements with users and other analysts.
  • Define functional requirements such as user requests for a new report or a systems enhancement.
  • Write program specifications or list of functional requirements for smaller enhancements.
  • Prepare estimates of time or resources required.
  • Code programs based on assigned specifications or own specifications with minimal or no assistance.
  • Create test plans, test programs, and review test results.
  • Write documentation or prepare help screens for users, operations, and future program maintenance.
  • Advise users on systems use.
  • Design systems enhancements or programming involving data extraction, data creation, updating multiple files, storage and databases, data presentation, as well as reporting.
  • Attend training and meetings, and read and study for personal development to learn about the business and to keep current with the professional field.
  • Identify and respond actively to the needs of all customers in alignment with the values and goals of the company.
  • A college degree or equivalent work experience in related job function.
  • Programming knowledge in Power BI, Python, JavaScript, C#, and experience with web development, preferably .NET.
  • Knowledge of business functional areas and its supporting applications systems.
  • Understanding of technical platform capabilities, structural systems design methodology, principles of systems design, online design, and database design.
  • Ability to plan and conduct user interviews.
  • Experience in data analysis, accessing data via SQL queries, and report design.
  • Manufacturing operations knowledge and experience with SCADA (Inductive Automation) is a strong plus.
