About The Position

The Application Engineer serves as the technical liaison between customers, sales, and internal manufacturing teams to support product applications, customer requirements, quoting, and process feasibility. This role evaluates customer specifications, recommends manufacturing solutions, supports new product introduction, and assists with ongoing process improvement. The Application Engineer provides technical and commercial expertise to ensure the company delivers high-quality, cost-effective products that meet customer performance expectations and internal production capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Materials, or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment (metal forming, machining, stamping, assembly, automotive, or related industries preferred).
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specifications.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, tooling concepts, and quality requirements.
  • Strong proficiency in spreadsheet tools (Excel); experience with ERP systems preferred (Syteline ERP a plus).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting quoting, customer engineering, or product applications is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Customer Application Support Review customer drawings, specifications, and performance requirements to determine product and process feasibility.
  • Provide technical recommendations to customers and internal teams regarding manufacturing methods, materials, tolerances, tooling, and process capability.
  • Support customer communication on design-for-manufacturing (DFM) opportunities and cost/lead-time improvements.
  • Technical Quoting & Estimating Collaborate with sales, engineering, and manufacturing to develop accurate proposals including labor, tooling, cycle time, scrap assumptions, and special processing requirements.
  • Assist in developing cost models and quoting tools to support consistent, repeatable estimating practices.
  • Participate in reviewing customer RFQs and identifying risks, assumptions, and required clarifications.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) Support launch activities including prototype planning, process development, and first-run validation.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineers, Quality, and Production teams to ensure smooth transition from quote to production.
  • Internal Technical Collaboration Serve as technical point of contact for sales, program management, and customer service teams.
  • Coordinate with tooling, maintenance, and production teams regarding new tooling requirements, engineering changes, or process modifications.
  • Maintain working knowledge of new manufacturing technologies and recommend improvements where applicable.
  • Perform other essential duties as assigned.
