About The Position

Northland Controls is seeking a well-qualified Performance Application Engineer to join our team. This embedded, customer-site role focuses on technical execution, system commissioning, and hands-on support for advanced physical security technologies, including S2 systems. In this role, you’ll support the full project and system life cycle—from programming and testing to commissioning and documentation—while ensuring seamless operation of access control, alarm, and video systems. You will partner closely with customers, technicians, and project teams to deliver innovative solutions and maintain Northland’s commitment to excellence, reliability, and world-class service.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of S2 Administration experience.
  • Associate Degree in Information Technology or related field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of low-voltage circuitry and troubleshooting techniques.
  • 5+ years of experience with Windows Server System Administration.
  • 5+ years of experience with Physical Security Systems Administration.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work independently and proactively.
  • Customer-focused with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and shifting priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Willingness to take on global tasks; some regional and global travel may be required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to drive results in a multicultural and global environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering project support throughout the Integration Implementation Project Life Cycle.
  • Program, install, test, configure, and troubleshoot access control and digital video management systems.
  • Commission physical security hardware including card readers, access control panels, alarm panels/devices, cameras, and NVRs.
  • Integrate access control and video management systems with the customer’s existing infrastructure.
  • Run small proof-of-concepts (POCs) and introduce innovative ideas to enhance customer operations.
  • Work directly with customers and train technicians on installed systems.
  • Participate in customer and project management meetings to analyze system needs and provide recommendations.
  • Create and maintain accurate system documentation.
  • Collaborate with security vendors and internal Security Systems Engineers to support global customer relationships.
  • Manage system emergencies efficiently and in an organized manner.
  • Ensure all work is performed in compliance with company health and safety standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
