The Application Engineer role at Continental involves developing design concepts and proposals for customer projects, ensuring compliance with standards and specifications, and conducting validation testing. The engineer will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to achieve project milestones and support the sales team in product development. This position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to coordinate technical solutions with suppliers and internal departments.

  • Responsible for prototype project plans for the associated customer projects
  • Develop design concepts and design proposals in coordination with the customer
  • Responsible for checking standards and customer specifications in terms of feasibility
  • Successful completion of validation testing
  • Proactively generate and implement cost reduction and margin improvement ideas for new or existing products
  • Coordination of 3D modeling together with CAD and CAE
  • Coordinate of 2D-drawings considering customer specifications and tolerancing requirements
  • Conduct design reviews with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Responsible for establishing a test plan and evaluating test results (DVP)
  • Responsible for D-FMEAs and SCCAFs
  • Assist in developing P-FMEAs
  • Liaison with project managers to achieve project milestones
  • Support the customer in finding application-technical solutions
  • Technical coordination with potential suppliers (internal / external)
  • Support the ContiTech Sales Team with new and existing product development
  • Working with the Purchasing team to create and introduce new purchased parts
  • Responsible for testing and working with the test department including evaluation of test results
  • Work with the FMEA team on design reviews
  • Assisting the quality department regarding customer claims
  • Responsible for the RFQs from the customer
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years' experience in application engineering or related technical function
  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in/with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Great problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong MS Office skills
