About The Position

Team TREX is seeking a skilled Application Engineer to join our mission of modernizing trading and money movement systems for advice clients. This role is pivotal in supporting Vanguard’s 2025 OKRs, including expanding Cash Plus Accounts and scaling trading capabilities for billions in transactions. You will work in a full-stack environment leveraging AWS services, microservices architecture, and modern development practices. Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of related work experience, including at least 1 year of hands-on development.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Proficiency in Node.js and experience with AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, ECS, SQS/SNS).
  • Familiarity with full-stack development, RESTful APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Node, Python, TypeScript, REST APIs, Github.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and containerization (Docker).
  • Exposure to financial services domain (trading, money movement) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intermediate level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases.
  • Integrate third-party products where needed.
  • Translate technical specifications into code for moderately complex new or enhancement projects.
  • Develop, test, and deploy applications following agile and DevOps practices, ensuring automation in testing and deployment.
  • Elevate code into development, test, and production environments on schedule; provide follow-up production support.
  • Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Understand client business functions and technology needs, ensuring alignment with Vanguard standards.
  • Comply with Information Technology and Information Security policies.
  • Contribute to special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
