About The Position

The Technical Lead for motors will be responsible for providing motor knowledge and application expertise for general industrial motors in various fields such as pumping, material handling, and air moving. This role serves as a liaison between customer design engineering and internal groups including operations, quality, product service, sales, and marketing. The Technical Lead will work to resolve customer issues, provide necessary product information, and assist in design changes to meet customer requirements. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with marketing to drive sales growth and submitting engineering change notices for all products. A strong background in the design and application of electric motors is essential.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electromagnetic, Electrical, Mechanical, or similar Engineering field
  • 7+ years experience in industrial electric motor or related industry
  • Strong knowledge of electric motor design (single and three phase) and construction
  • Ability to rely upon experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Familiarity with IEEE, CSA, NEMA, & UL standards applicable to electric motors
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products and learn internal motor design software and systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Results oriented, self-motivated – high achiever
  • Strong analytical ability and strategic/critical thinker
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize projects efficiently
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Some travel required

Responsibilities

  • Review customer/project specifications
  • Work directly with customers to solve application issues
  • Assist Market Managers in developing strategic relationships with partners or potential customers
  • Provide application knowledge/training internally and externally
  • Understand internal systems and processes to increase efficiency of customer inquiries
  • Maintain technical knowledge of product offerings and operations
  • Create and submit engineering change orders to update products
  • Develop and create sample motor designs for customer testing
  • Complete detailed testing and competitive analysis
  • Complete electrical and mechanical design changes on motors to meet customer requirements
  • Act as a liaison for production for line deviations and changes
  • Estimate and track time required for customer and internal support activities
  • Create and modify technical documents related to application and interaction of system components
